Without taking anything away from the countless women across Tanzania who continue to make extraordinary strides within their communities, it is impossible to tell every success story in a single moment. This feature highlights a select few – not because others are less deserving, but because these women stood out for the scale, visibility, and significance of their impact, both nationally and globally. Through visionary leadership, relentless hard work, and unwavering dedication, they have not only left an indelible mark on 2025 but have actively shaped pathways for empowerment that will influence generations to come.
2025 will be remembered as a defining year for Tanzanian women—a year where leadership was not merely spoken about, but lived. Across fashion, philanthropy, pageantry, tourism, entrepreneurship, cultural diplomacy, and social impact, women stepped forward with courage, clarity, and conviction. These five women did not simply excel in their respective fields; they challenged norms, shifted narratives, built platforms, and opened doors for those coming after them. As Tanzania looks toward 2026, their influence is not fading – it is only gaining momentum.
Millen Happiness Magese
CEO and Founder of Millen Privé & Co. Lifestyle and National Director of Miss Universe Tanzania

With a formidable portfolio of accolades to her name, Millen Happiness Magese – CEO and Founder of Millen Privé & Co. Lifestyle and National Director of Miss Universe Tanzania – can only be described as iconic. Her influence is the result of a globally forged career, having worked with leading international fashion powerhouses and being New York–based under the prestigious Ford Agency, where she built a reputation for excellence on the world stage.
In less than a year, Millen transformed Miss Universe Tanzania into a pageant to watch – raising industry standards, reshaping perceptions, and positioning Tanzania firmly within the global beauty conversation. Through strategic collaborations with top industry influencers, she redefined what national pageantry could achieve. A landmark moment came when Miss Universe 2019, Zozibini Tunzi, hosted the Miss Universe Tanzania Grand Finale – an unprecedented endorsement of the platform’s rising global stature.
In 2025, Millen’s work stood firmly at the intersection of empowerment, health advocacy, and global representation. Her impact through the Empower Beyond Program extended far beyond the Miss Universe 2025 finalists, reaching people and businesses across industries and communities. Through intentional partnerships, meaningful collaborations – including #BuyTanzaniaBuildTanzania, and the Behind The Crown TV series on YouTube, which documents the authentic journey of the titleholder, Millen has created enduring digital and cultural footprints.
Redefining influence and leadership within Tanzania’s beauty and fashion industry, Millen stands not merely as a former beauty queen or international model, but as a visionary leader and institution builder. Her leadership bore international recognition in her very first year as National Director when Naisae Yona, the reigning Miss Universe Tanzania, won the “Most Beautiful People” category at Miss Universe International 2025 in Thailand – a historic first. The achievement was awarded in recognition of the National Director’s leadership, honoring the dedication, innovation, and commitment to showcasing Tanzania’s true beauty beyond the delegate alone.
Doris Mollel
Founder, Doris Mollel Foundation

Doris Mollel remains one of Tanzania’s most respected and trusted humanitarian voices. Through the Doris Mollel Foundation, she has transformed empathy into tangible, life-changing impact, particularly for women and children – where compassion meets action.
Her innovation reached a powerful milestone with the debut of the “Baba na Mama Njiti Wrap” Initiative in 2023, a groundbreaking project that seamlessly intertwined healthcare solutions with high fashion. In collaboration with Swahili Fashion Week, East and Central Africa’s leading fashion platform, the Doris Mollel Foundation partnered with 10 exceptional Tanzanian designers and co-created alongside Amana Hospital’s Neonatal Care Unit (NCU) to reimagine clinical necessity through culture and creativity.
The result was a collection of beautiful, functional, and culturally grounded Kangaroo Mother Care and Kangaroo Father Care wraps – designed to support warmth, bonding, and breathing for premature babies. By using fashion as a storytelling and advocacy tool, Doris brought national attention to the realities faced by parents of preterm infants, while powerfully highlighting the life-saving importance of skin-to-skin care.
Paulin Mkama
Public Relations and Communications Manager at the Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB)

Pauline Mkama, stands as one of the most compelling voices shaping Tanzania’s tourism and conservation narrative today. A recipient of the EA Youth Awards 2023, recognized among the 100 Tanzanian Sheroes, and a powerful Voice for Women in Conservation, Pauline embodies leadership rooted in purpose and action.
“I have seen firsthand how women bring unique strength, resilience, and perspective to conservation when we empower them in this field. We protect more than wildlife – we nurture communities, inspire future leaders, and create lasting change,” she affirms. Equally central to her philosophy is her firm belief that “vijana ndio wenyewe – taifa la kesho ni la leo,” underscoring her commitment to youth as present-day drivers of transformation, not future participants.
Working tirelessly behind the scenes and on the global stage, Pauline has played a pivotal role in positioning Tanzania as a hub of African tourism. Passionate, present, and deeply hands-on, she is known as a doer – intentionally opening doors for diverse collaborations and ensuring that many faces and voices are represented in telling Tanzania’s story. Through her strategic communications work at TTB, she continues to showcase the country’s breathtaking landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and historical significance as the Cradle of Humankind.
While Tanzania is globally celebrated as home to Africa’s tallest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro, Pauline is equally committed to reminding the world that the nation offers far more. Tanzania clinched four prestigious awards at the World Travel Awards, and as the country prepares to host the World Travel Awards in 2026. Together with the wider TTB family, Pauline is playing a critical role in ensuring that Tanzania is not just visited – but remembered as an unforgettable experience.
Nazimizye Mdolo
National Director – Miss Grand Tanzania

Nazimizye Mdolo has transformed Miss Grand Tanzania into far more than a beauty pageant—it is now a powerful platform of national pride, opportunity, and life-changing access. Through her visionary leadership, the competition has become a gateway for young women to claim national titles, represent Tanzania on global stages, and step into opportunities that extend well beyond the crown. Miss Grand Tanzania has evolved into a multi-title ecosystem for women and youth empowerment. In 2025, Beatrice Alex Akyoo, crowned Miss Grand Tanzania, made history as the first Tanzanian delegate to break into the Top 20 at Miss Grand International, ultimately finishing as Fifth Runner-Up at the global competition in Thailand – a milestone moment for the country.

Beyond the main title, Nazimizye expanded the platform by securing licenses for multiple international pageants, ensuring that excellence across the contestant pool was recognized and rewarded. National titles were awarded to Amina Jigge (Miss Earth Tanzania), Jesca Micca (Miss Cosmo Tanzania), Faidha Kivuyo (Miss Intercontinental Tanzania), Efrazia Makene (Miss Elite Tanzania), Adelina Mpinga (Miss Tourism Africa International Tanzania), and Jeniffer Shirima (Miss Africa International Tanzania). Nothing of this scale had been done before. Traditionally, pageantry has centered all recognition and opportunity on a single winner, while the rest of the contestants, despite immense potential – fade into obscurity. Nazimizye disrupted this model entirely. She reimagined pageantry as a launchpad, not a finish line, ensuring that many women could rise, thrive, and build meaningful careers through the platform. With heightened visibility for the delegates, it has elevated prestige for Miss Grand Tanzania, and growing confidence among partners and investors. As the platform gains momentum, it is fast becoming one of Tanzania’s most influential empowerment stages – poised for even greater impact in 2026.
Victoria Martin
Model/ Fashion Designer

Crowned Miss Tanga in 2007 at just 18 years old, Victoria’s entry into the spotlight opened doors that stretched far beyond the runway. The title propelled her into the international modeling arena, leading her to South Africa, where she spent two years building her career and gaining invaluable industry exposure. Yet for Victoria, beauty was never the destination—it was only the beginning. Determined to build a life rooted in substance as much as style, she returned to complete her education, earning a degree in Human Resource Management. Drawing from years of experience as a model, and to be fully present for her family while remaining connected to the industry she loved, Victoria charted a bold new path – transitioning into fashion design, beginning humbly from her home.

The pinnacle of this journey came on 20 December 2025, when Victoria launched her first-ever VM Fashion Show in Tanga – her hometown, extending the same grace, opportunity, and belief – to other young women, becoming a bridge between talent and possibility.
These five women remind us that Tanzania’s future is not an abstract idea waiting to be realized—it is already being written by those who dare to imagine more and act boldly. Through leadership rooted in purpose, innovation driven by courage, and impact measured in lives changed, they have reshaped industries, redefined opportunity, and expanded what is possible for women and youth across the nation. As 2026 approaches, one truth stands clear: their impact is not concluding – it is accelerating. The standards have been set, the foundations laid, and the momentum is undeniable.
