He employs a mix of lush synths, crisp percussion, and subtle melodic flourishes, creating a backdrop that feels both modern and timeless. The production leans into atmospheric hip hop, with occasional nods to lo-fi and electronic genres, giving each track a distinct yet interconnected vibe. ‘Still’ delves into themes of self-reflection, resilience, and personal growth. StillJxmmy’s delivery is understated but impactful, weaving narratives that touch on ambition, struggle, and the pursuit of authenticity. The writing is introspective, often inviting listeners into the artist’s inner world.

The production quality of StillJxmmy’s ‘STILL’ EP plays a pivotal role in elevating the overall listening experience, transforming it into an immersive and emotionally resonant journey. From the very first track, the clarity and precision of the sound allow every element be it the subtle synth layers, crisp percussion, or nuanced vocal delivery to shine through with remarkable detail. This meticulous attention to sonic detail not only highlights the artist’s introspective lyricism but also draws listeners deeper into the atmospheric soundscape crafted throughout the project. The balanced mixing ensures that each instrument and vocal part occupies its own distinct space within the stereo field, creating a rich and spacious audio environment. This spatial clarity prevents the sound from feeling cluttered or overwhelming, allowing the listener to appreciate the complexity of the arrangements without fatigue. The result is a seamless flow that maintains engagement from start to finish.

Our forefathers often stated if you want something you have to work hard and chase for it. For StillJxmmy, he understood the concept and immediately released a collaboration single with the former band Chief Gang dubbed “Pretty” and “Vibe”  followed by his sophomore EP ‘78455.’ The EP showcased his compelling  artistry evolution within the contemporary hip-hop and trap scenes. Spanning seven tracks, the project blends atmospheric beats, smooth synths, and 808-driven rhythms with introspective and confident lyricism. Throughout the EP, StillJxmmy explores themes of loyalty, personal struggle, and self-identity, delivering a balance of bravado and vulnerability that resonates deeply with listeners. Collaborations with artists like 1jau, Korb$, and ChiefGeng add dynamic layers and contrasting flows, enriching the overall sound. Standout tracks such as “Captain” highlight the synergy between featured artists, while “Feelin’ Lonely (Kinda)” offers a hauntingly melodic dive into emotional vulnerability. The closing track, “Family 1st,” underscores the importance of close relationships and staying true to one’s roots, rounding out the project with heartfelt sincerity. Polished production throughout the EP complements StillJxmmy’s versatile delivery, making ‘78455’ both an accessible entry point for new fans and a meaningful continuation of his musical journey. This EP cements StillJxmmy’s place in the independent hip-hop landscape, appealing to those who appreciate melodic trap infused with authentic storytelling and emotional depth.

After five years of silent production and crafting, Still Jxmmy came back in 2025 with ‘WGB.’  Following in the footsteps of great artists who believe in prioritizing EPs before releasing a full body of work, the release serves as his third EP. Released in May 2025, the five-track project runs just shy of 17 minutes but brims with a clarity of purpose that some full-length albums struggle to achieve. For listeners familiar with Jxmmy’s earlier experiments  from the raw edges of his single ‘78455’ to scattered features across Nairobi’s underground cyphers  this EP feels like the moment he steps into the room, chest out, ready to be heard.

The EP opens with “Naskia,” a moody yet punchy intro that translates loosely to “I feel.” It’s a fitting title for a track that operates like an artist’s mission statement, a sparse, ambient beat cushioned by sharp, conversational bars that hint at what’s coming. There’s an unmistakable confidence here, as if Jxmmy’s spent time in the shadows sharpening his pen, now ready to claim space. Things pick up pace on “Fix Her,” featuring rising rapper 1JAU. This track flexes a classic rap pairing: a simple but infectious hook paired with verses that lean into raw honesty about brokenness, both his and hers. The production doesn’t overcomplicate things, subtle synth lines layer over a steady beat, allowing Jxmmy’s direct delivery and 1JAU’s effortless flow to shine. It’s a track you could hear blasting from a matatu in Westlands or slipped into a late-night DJ set. The real heart of WGB lies in its ensemble moments, particularly “Mortal Kombat,” which is a fan favourite, especially me. Featuring Mr. K, Ouma Wa Mafegi, and Amrig, the track borrows its title and swagger from the legendary video game, Mortal Kombat  and it’s exactly as fierce as it sounds. The beat goes harder here, all sharp kicks and percussive hi-hats, giving each rapper a chance to swing. It’s a lyrical sparring match that feels true to Nairobi’s underground spirit: competitive, collaborative, and brimming with one-liners that stick. It’s not just braggadocio either; there’s a raw honesty in how these verses tackle the hustle, the rivalry, and the high stakes of carving out a name in an increasingly crowded scene.

Then there’s “Only 1,” featuring long term collaborator Kanzu, arguably the EP’s smoothest cut. Here, Jxmmy lets a touch of melody slip into the mix. Kanzu’s R&B-laced vocals add an irresistible edge, weaving around Jxmmy’s verses like a conversation between lovers who’ve seen too many storms but can’t let go. It’s also the clearest showcase of the EP’s production polish, thanks to Original Addi’s tight beats and Neffy’s clean engineering. The subtle bounce in the beat keeps your head nodding while the lyrics linger on late-night doubts and fragile hopes. Closing the set is “Wish,” a collaborative gem with $ambo. It’s the closest the EP comes to tenderness, with a dreamy instrumental that gives Jxmmy space to turn inward. He raps with an intimacy that feels like he’s talking straight into your ear, letting the brashness of earlier tracks fall away. It’s a reminder that behind the bravado is an artist still wrestling with dreams, regrets, and the weight of expectation. For listeners who want a taste of the Nairobi rap scene’s softer underbelly, “Wish” is a standout.

What sets WGB apart is how well it balances its ambition with cohesion. The EP never overstays its welcome, but within its 16-minute run time, it introduces us to a rapper who’s both a skilled collaborator and a solo artist unafraid to stake his claim. The features  from Kanzu’s velvety hooks to Mr. K and Ouma Wa Mafegi’s lyrical jabs don’t overshadow Jxmmy; they sharpen him. Of course, there’s room to grow. StillJxmmy’s pen is sharp, but you sense he’s just scratching the surface of his narrative potential. At times, the tracks lean more on vibe than story, leaving you wanting him to dig deeper to show us more of the life behind the bars. That said, the groundwork is solid. He’s found a sonic lane that’s polished yet hungry, and if he pairs this energy with more daring risks, his next project could push boundaries for Kenyan rap altogether.

In an era where East African hip-hop is finally getting global ears, ‘WGB is a statement that StillJxmmy is ready to ride that wave  not as a passenger but as one of its most compelling new captains. It’s short, sharp, and more than enough to make you hit replay and wonder what this young MC will do next. If you’re craving a dose of Nairobi’s raw, genre-blending sound, cue this up. You might just find your new favourite pilot in StillJxmmy.
